2022 Super Bowl Halftime show taps Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Mary J. Blige to perform

The 2022 Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show has secured a superstar lineup comprised of Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar, all of whom will take the stage to perform.

On Thursday (September 30), Pepsi, the NFL, and Roc Nation announced that recording superstars Dr. Dre. Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar have all signed on to perform as part of the 2022 Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show.

The 2022 Super Bowl is set to take place at the SoFi stadium in Inglewood, California, making the involvement of Dre, Snoop, and Lamar especially significant.

All three rap stars are notable LA natives— a nice touch given that the 2022 Super Bowl will also mark the first time in nearly three decades that the city has played host to football’s biggest game.

Additionally, the star-studded lineup will also mark the first time all five artists have ever shared the stage together.

In a tweet announcing the artists’ involvement, Roc Nation touted their collective success, pointing out that between the five of them, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar boast a whopping 43 Grammys and 19 no. 1 Billboard albums.

Elsewhere, Roc Nation founder Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter) spoke of the significance of the newly announced lineup.

“On February 13, 2022, at the Super Bowl LVI in Inglewood, CA, in the new SoFi Stadium, Dr. Dre, a musical visionary from Compton, Snoop Dogg, an icon from Long Beach and Kendrick Lamar, a young musical pioneer in his own right, also from Compton, will take center field for a performance of a lifetime,” said Carter via a statement.

“They will be joined by the lyrical genius, Eminem and the timeless Queen, Mary J. Blige. This is the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. This is history in the making.”

Added Dr. Dre: “The opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime show, and to do it in my own backyard, will be one of the biggest thrills of my career. I’m grateful to Jay-Z, Roc Nation, the NFL, and Pepsi as well as Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar for joining me in what will be an unforgettable cultural moment.”

The 2022 Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show is set to air live on NBC from the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA on Sunday, February 13, 2022.
